WordPress
Log In
Some WordPress sites have a login button, but not all of them, so this document will teach you how to access your site the slightly harder way.
Just go to your website, for example arts.asuw.org, then add the test “/wp-admin/” to the end, so it would become arts.asuw.org/wp-admin/ .
Hit enter and you will log in. If you are logged in with your ASUW UWNETID it will be automatic, otherwise you will need to log in with UW. If you try to log in with your personal UWNETID you will not be able to log in.
Add more users
Go to users -> add new (only uw accounts allowed)
Make them an account if needed
Give people only the permissions they need.
Contributor โ somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
Use contributor as a default, if you want to give someone more power talk to us first
Add or Edit content
Posts/pages -> add new
Hit add media if you want to add pictures
Remember to set when to publish
Consider using categories and tags
Consider allowing comments
Posts -> select a post to edit or delete
Add media
There is an add media button above the edit box on posts or pages
Schedule release
On the side of post posts and pages there is a publish date, if you set it to some point in the future the post will publish then.
This is great if you want to write up an announcement before you release it.
Change menus
Appearance -> menus
Add all the links you want to the menu and sort it
You can link to off site pages
Change Theme
Appearance -> Theme
We plan to unify all ASUW themes this year (2015-2016) with the creatively title “ASUW-UW theme”
Lets meet to discuss how your entity can take advantage of this new theme. Send us a request by our request form.
Customization
Appearance -> Customize
Your site doesn’t have to look like every other one!
Header image – can be changed
Widgets – Change the sidebar
Front page – You can set which page the front page is
Title & tagline – This can also be edited
Plugins
There are many plugins for wordpress, they can do basically anything

If you need content restricted to a set of users or even just one user let us know, we can work with you to make it happen.
Security and Accounts
WordPress
Your WordPress is secured using your ASUW UWNETID, don’t share it, and if you do make sure you change your password.
Email and How to change email name
https://uwnetid.washington.edu/manage/
Go here to change your display name or change your password.
You should get your initial log in information when you transition, if you don’t you will probably need to talk to your SAO advisor.
Access Google Drive
Your email account also grants you access to a Google Drive you can use to back up and share documents
Just go to https://drive.google.com to access it. If you are not already logged in enter yournetid@uw.edu as your username with no password, and you will be redirected to the UW login page.
Donโt work on your personal computer or account
Please keep your work on ASUW computers. If you end up working on your own computer please store the documents on your ASUW Google Drive.

Hours Guide
Find your hours at https://hours.asuw.org find yourself and hit edit hours to add in your hours.
You will need to log in with your ASUW UWNETID in order to edit your hours.
The website works in mobile, but it is not currently set up to work well in mobile. It is recommended you use a desktop browser.
This is mostly the domain of the Personnel Director, however if you think you have a technical issue contact the webmaster.
Senate Website
As of October 2015 many of the senate website features do not work in Safari, if anyone has an issue please direct them to use a different browser.
Records Help
Can't edit or upload files
Contact the webmaster, they can change what you have permissions to do
Delete or add a file group aka decision
The webmaster and other admins can do this from “manage decisions”
Delete or add a group of file groups
To add go to admin->manage groups
Only the webmaster can delete them, ask them! (Note to webmaster: delete directly from the DB)
